What is Meshtastic?
Meshtastic is a way for small, low-power radios to pass messages between each other over long distances. Each device helps relay messages for the next one — forming a "mesh" network. How does it work? (very simply)
1. User device encrypts and sends a message to target device
2. Nearby devices help relay them along the mesh
3. Target device receives and decrypts the message
4. Contributing devices share duty of relaying for everyone
5. No core infrastructure or central control system
6. You keep the network up and running through participation!
Meshtastic is used around the world for:
🏡 Staying in touch with family, friends, and neighbors
🥾 Hiking, camping, and outdoor adventures
🌊 Backup communication during emergencies
🎪 Personal safety at events and festivals
📡 Long distance off-grid comms networks
🛠️ Learning about radio and networking
✨ And much more…
Is it safe and legal?
